(R.I.P.THE RENEGADES OF POP) It's been over 6 years now since That Petrol Emotion broke up. If you'd told me back then that we would reach the year 2000 and that I still wouldn't have released any new recordings yet since "Fireproof" (in 1994) I would probably have been incredulous not to say more than a bit depressed! However as one of my favourite writers Kurt Vonnegut is fond of saying : "So it goes"....  Interestingly after TPE parted company (due to culinary differences - what else?), I initially experienced an amazing rush of pure, absolute euphoria and a wonderful feeling of liberation - new musical ideas/possibilities/directions seemed to stretch endlessly before me. Eventually though I came back down to earth again only to then spin off towards the opposite end of the emotional spectrum, where now a paralysing fear and dread of a future unknown descended instead... I had to face facts- my musical apprenticeship was over and I was on my own... could I hack it by myself ? Or would I form an alliance once again with one (or more) of the Petrols camp ? Let's find out... |
