Some rave reviews from satisfied customers!: Firstly, I didn't know you had such a decent singing voice !!!I loved the demo - my immediate favourite was the catchy Girl From Miki City. I've been humming it to myself for days! Would make a great single although hopefully the good old British record buying public wouldn't ignore it as they did with TPE. I prefer the faster guitar based songs so initially I wasn't overly impressed with Space Jungle - reminded me of the Womb Music tape my 10 month old son listens to in order to send him to sleep! Having said that it is good for chilling out to. White Trash... also wasn't so immediately accessible - however having played it a few times I have grown to like it - sometimes the tracks that you have to work at a bit harder hold a greater reward for the listener. All the songs on side A were great - Ascending Star, Radio Free Derry, Hoodlum Angels - all excellent. Quiet Revolution is also a relaxing, more chilled song to listen to. There's not a song that I would criticise. All in all I enjoyed the tape and was really impressed at the broad range of styles - you can hardly say that all the tunes sound the same. What are the chances of a record deal ? I really hope you get one as this stuff deserves an audience. Any thoughts of live dates and if so where ? Newcastle ? I bet some of these songs will sound even better live just like some of TPE's. Keep up the good work - there are people out there who will buy and enjoy your songs ! Take care, Crawford |

I've just got back from a 5000km road trip holiday to where the desert meets the ocean ... a little place known as Cactus, South Australia ... the underground surf capital of the world. So it'll be no surprise the Wavewalkers proved to be an apt travel tape ... The first thing that struck me about the songs overall was the guitar sounds. I love Television but guitar is not one of my favourite instruments. Sometimes it comes across as too common. My biggest compliment about the Wavewalkers is that most of the guitar sounds are stunning ... Is there a better way to start a record or a song than with a thumpin' drum intro? Radio Free Derry is a catchy opening track ... it reminded me of Teenage Fanclub. The harmonies in the chorus are great. You could even go further with those harmonies and make it a really lush Byrdsy chorus to go against the hard driving guitar chords. Girl from Miki City comes across like the true soundtrack to Akira or any of those fantastic but equally bizarre Manga films ... liked the backwards cymbal stuff in and my favourite bit is the guitar "solo" in the left side of my stereo... I don't like the bit about "Jimmy Jewel & Patty Lee etc." with the strident guitar screeches. I don't think you need this bit or rather can come up with something better. It doesn't top the chorus if you know what I mean. I didn't get into Hoodlum Angels ... the lyrics I think ... my favourite part of this song is the snare drum sound ... it reminded me of an Australian band called the Cruel Sea who get a similar drum sound- very rich. Despite my lyrical reservations the music lights my fire ... it has a fantastic feel ... All of the Wavewalker songs have a very cinematic feel ... maybe it's because I listened to them driving across the Australian interior looking out at a living diorama through the windscreen. with that in mind Constellations & Satellites is a highlight ... the landscape lyrics have been roadtested ... the wide, open 6/8 feel is very expansive. there's no better is feeling than sitting on a sandy cliff as the tide disappears ... you're wrapped in bulky warm clothes and you're watching a burnt orange sunset sky ... soon after you're making out the deep blues and blacks on the horizon as the sun is gone. One of the beauties of being in the desert is having a fire at night and staring at the sky. there are so many stars. you also notice a lot of movement - shooting stars, planets colliding and unidentified flying objects - "constellation & satellites". The melody for Quiet Revolution is the best on the tape ... a beautiful melody especially the verses ... "it's such a natural evolution" etc. the song as a whole comes across as very assured - great samples and guitar sounds floating through ... I love the organ? bit at the end can you fill me in on your sampling .... if indeed it is sampling? is there strings on Seed of Soul ... not the harp bit but underneath that? I like your higher register on this song ... it seems to have humble aims and is definitely a grower because of it ... White Trash Saturday Night starts out like a Tom Waits experiment ... some of the lyrics work for me ... some don't ... musically this is another highlight ... great layers of sound ... Finally Space Jungle is right up my alley ... wonderfully atmospheric and made for headphones ...! From: Christopher Hollow |

Well, I have been trying to write a proper review of Wavewalkers and have really only worked out some reactions to the songs. Ray, the stuff is amazing, really incredible. I play it so much and have found myself so moved by the entire tone of it. If I can give you my impressions of it......for me it starts out looking outside, then as the tape progresses it goes more
inside (inner self) and then comes to an absolutely beautiful sense of self revelation and peace (a quiet revolution indeed). Radio Free Derry... is the title a nod to R.E.M.?? ... Has a great ideal intro and is an incredibly catchy song that stays with the listener. I can imagine it easily as an A side. With any hope of being critical, perhaps more vocal harmonies at the end... Hoodlum Angels... My least favorite on the tape (simply because one has to be)... still the song is clear to me, the anger at rock poseurs rings so true for 2,000. I love the lines "older than their years"- more guitar at the end please!!!! Would love to hear you rip more on that solo... reminds me a bit of Strummer's This Is England..."got my motorcycle jacket but I'm walking all the time..." Constellations and Satellites... This is the most mysterious track on the tape to me so it's the hardest to respond to. Are the sound effects all guitar made?... very impressive. Has a perfect tone for the song. Quiet Revolution... The love song isn't dead!!!!! Great stuff. The tape seems to be gearing itself inward at this point. I get the real sense of someone who has been through a lot emotionally in their life and is finding peace through love... totally hypnotic, again lyrically and musically you are completely together. There isn't a song on the tape that rings false. Seeds Of Soul... Short centerpiece to me. The harpsichord????? is beautiful. "The journey starts inside". You are showing these incredible life lessons without ever sounding preachy or apologetic. The bravery on this song really gets me, the tape becomes really personal to me at this point... I think similar sounds between this song and the later Universal Heartbeat really tie the songs together as the great unified piece it is... Ascending Star... I am not even sure how to say much of side two. I hear bits and pieces of myself and my own life and feel every time that I am on a journey. "I know I'm an actor the whole world's a stage, destiny waits for you and me"... brilliant and bracing. The slight shift in sound during those lines is stunning to me. the emotion you are pulling out is just incredible. The short stabbing guitar solos that puncture the song at various moments are particularly effective especially after the previous hypnotic feel you have set up. Epiphany... the sound of this after the other songs of just percussion and acoustic guitar (plus the great occasional handclapping) is tremendous. It sets up the the grandslam of the last three tracks so well. Your control is refreshing. The idea that you could rip on the guitar any moment sets up a wonderful tension like that of a Television record or any number of Bowie albums. Universal Heartbeat / Night Piano 1... just beautiful, I hear bits of Eno, Bowie and Roxy in these. Can't really say much except that they are simply beautiful and set the listener up for... Glimpse of Eternity......YES!!!!! This is it man!!!! Perfect. I love every moment of this song, the sound, the lyrics......everything. I hear this song and I feel a great emotional release, yes the same kind I feel at the end of Another Green World. What else can I say? Ray, you are on goldmine here. I feel so privileged each time I hear this music. I hope so much that you can get it released and heard properly. Thank you so much for sharing it with me. I can't wait to hear more. Is there anyway that I could get a CD copy??? I would be more than willing to pay for several.....my friends want some. Jeremy |

A year ago I received a small parcel. A sign of life from Réamann O’Gormain, the former guitarist with That Petrol Emotion. I opened the parcel with great anticipation, and found a tape, reading ”Wave Walkers - demos”. As I hurried towards the stereo I was wondering what the new music from Réamann O’Gormain would sound like? Would there be a straight line from what That Petrol Emotion did on their last two albums, where Réamann wrote a lote of the songs, to these demos? Or would this tape show other sides to Réamanns writing and composing skills? Did he even have other capabilities when it comes to making music? The answer to these question has to be YES. The similarities to what That Petrol Emotion did on their last albums is definately there, and it also shows that Réamann can move away from the sound and style of TPE. At the same time these new songs really reveals Réamanns genious when it comes to composing excellent music, and writing good songs. As Steve, a fellow TPE fan, said; "From gentle lip'-smacking electronic wiz'ardry, through tough flash lighting vistas, round atmospheric thunderbolts to hip first-thought beat prose." Quiet Revolution. It all starts off with this wonderful tune. A beautiful song that really makes you wanna sing along, or at least hum along. The slow, relaxing beat gives you a dreamy feeling, and the tune itself is hard to get forget, just after the first time around. The lyrics are catchy, and after hearing the chorus the first time, you catch yourself singing along the second time. I couldn`t get rid of the melody, or the lyrics for hours. This song has got all the characteristics of a hit. First time my wife heard this song she was wondering why there was a man singing on a song by Morcheeba (her favourite band). I gotta say it, a comparison between Quiet Revolution and a song by Morcheeba is in favour of Morcheeba, NOT the other way around. In my opinion Quiet Revolution is so much better than any song that Morcheeba has ever written! But still, I think this comparison is wrong. Constellations And Satellites. Once again I want to sing along (Well, all the songs on this demo makes me wanna sing along). This time there’s a bit more noise coming out of the speakers. Absolutely not a bad thing though. A cool, weird song, and again a song that stays on your mind for hours after listening to it. The chorus is somewhat bugging, but still catchy. After hearing the first two songs I immediately started wondering why this stuff wasn’t released. Two great songs that left me with a wonderful feeling, wanting to hear more! Hoodlum Angels Would you please welcome the bruising guitars! This is a song that the Petrols, and most bands, would be proud of. After the first two ”slow” songs the WaveWalkers surprise you and kick start those guitars with this catchy little thing. Great guitar work, a rocking tune, cool lyrics, and again a cathcy chorus. It was, and still is, a thrill to play this one as loud as you can on your car-stereo, while driving on the highway, singing along, or was that shouting....? White Trash Saturday Night "Weird", was my first thought when I first heard this song. Sounds like a poem accompanied by lots and lots of strange beautiful noises. After listening to it a couple of times, you realise that this is one hell of a song, never heard anything like it! Soon it becomes a favourite, stranger than ever. Radio Free Derry Don`t think of REM`s "Radio Free Europe", this is completely different, and better. It actually reminds me of R.E.M and The Undertones in their early days. Actually, This song has got it all; good lyrics, dancable speed, a rocking melody, a catchy chorus, nasty guitars and a bunch of weird noises here and there! A song just made for the company of a pint or two.... dancing, jumping and rambling around in front of a stage. The Girl From Miki City "A nice little rocker". This one could`ve been off Chemicrazy or Fireproof, and it sometimes remind me of early work by the notorious Iggy Pop and his Stooges. What more could you want? Again the bruising guitars hit you, lift you up, and keeps lifting you up into the land of Miki City. Sounds daft, but listen to this song at a high level, and you get my point. Wonderful, eclectic, fantastic, strange, please please play it again Sam! And these are only the Demos! Wonder what a decent production would do to these songs. Huh, I’m starting to fantazise already. I was once asked to describe the Wavewalkers demo to a fellow TPE fan, and I realised it was rather difficult. The signs of TPE is there, obviously, but in the back of my head names such as R.E.M., The Undertones, Porthishead, Massive Attack, Morcheeba, The Sundays, Coldplay, Travis, Public Image Ltd., Tom Waits, and many others, started to fly around. Definately not an easy task to describe the sound of Wave Walkers. But instead of doing rather irrelevant comparisons, the best way to describe the sound and music of the Wave Walkers would be to say that it’s some of the best music I’ve heard for a long long time. You really ought to give this a shot, and make up your own mind and your own comparisons. You owe it to yourself. One way of describing the music is: a little bit of uh-oh, and a whole lotta oh-yeah! And I couldn’t agree more. Still not sure whether to dip your toe in? Come on and walk the waves with us.... Espen Esmark |

More please! jpcac |

In these lean musical times it's good to know that someone out there is willing to try
and be different and work by their own rules. Wavewalkers will sound as fresh and
new in ten years times as they do today. How many bands can you say that about?
So whats on offer? A whole array of material diverse and challenging to the end. Lets start with "Quiet Revolution", a wonderful soundscape of lilting keyboards and entwining guitar that lets you float away blissfully. Then onto the tight groove of "Hoodlum Angels", where the bass and drums lock together to form the glorious backbone of this menacing opus. "Ascending Star" is next, its intense guitar refrain embeds itself on you and is not easilly forgotten, the making of a perfect pop song. The lyrics hit you head on..... "Here it is the time of my life"..INDEED! By the time the rythmic waltz that is "Constellations and Satelittes" comes around , you are ready for its sorcery of gliding guitars and bounding vocals to take you here, there and everywhere. A tough rocker is needed next and comes in the form of "Radio Free Derry", built around a pounding guitar riff that is ablaze with joy. An eclectic number is "White Trash Saturday Night", a combination of beat prose and beatbox that shouldn't work but somehow does, one you have to stick with to bring you round, but worth the wait! "Space Jungle" is an ambient chillout of guitar voodoo, listener beware! The mighty passionate "Seed of Soul" reels you in to its web immediately. Wonderful stuff ! Dreamy vocals and flowing guitar bring you back to this song again and again, you will never tire of hearing it, yes it's that good. "Higher Grace's" genius is the undertow of guitar and uplifting vocals that let you sail away in its beauty. The haunting sound of "Night Piano No. 1." is enough to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Two acoustic songs follow "Epiphany" is a spirited melodic opus."Once upon a time called now" is a flourishing track with beautiful vocals, one to nod along to! A rich pastoral instrumental called "Universal Heartbeat" with smart squeals and harps is just what the doctor ordered. Another rocker, "Girl from Miki City" is seeped in 1970's New York and name checks most of the main players from that time. A gem of a song, a would be No.1 in a just world. " Let Go" this is one everybody should hear- a fine piece of songwriting that captures the imagination and leaves you tingling, a true classic and up there in my own personal top ten of all time. Definitely a song that most other bands could only ever dream of writing. Perfection! Can't wait for the proper studio recordings!!!Get to it Reamann! Steven Pittaway |
